These four photos represent A.miguel’s attempt to “re-‐discover” discovery.
“With the event of Google Maps, satellite mapping, street view, GPS locators and the like, we can now virtually visit every nook and cranny of the Earth.
I grew up during the ground breaking Apollo missions when discovery of unknown places was still a novel and exciting idea. Something few of us could ever hope to experience. For this show I attempted to create my own, unmapped images of places, planets, and landscapes: planet-scapes.
Through a process involving 3D collage, improvised filters, photography and projectors, these images are created and/or discovered. They bring me back to a place of unknowing, of wonder, and of “what if ?”. I hope they do the same for you.”
